Ascend uses artificial intelligence throughout the product. We believe in being transparent about which features are AI-generated, which models we use, and the known limitations of those models. This disclosure complies with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's AI transparency guidance, California AB-3030, and the Google Play Generative AI Apps Policy.

What Is AI-Generated in Ascend
The following features rely on generative or analytical AI models. Their output is machine-generated and has not been reviewed by a human medical, dermatological, or psychological professional before being shown to you.
Overall scoreAI-generated estimate based on visual pattern recognition across uploaded facial photos.
Category scoresAI-generated estimates for jawline, skin quality, eyes, cheekbones, and symmetry.
Key observationsShort AI-generated descriptions of structural and skin characteristics visible in your scan.
Daily routinesAI-generated step-by-step morning and evening routines, personalised against your scan observations.
Daily tipsAI-generated tips citing your specific scan observations.
75-Day GuideAI-generated multi-phase plan structured by an AI model and personalised against your scan.
AI Coach repliesAI-generated conversational responses to your questions.
Product recommendationsAI-generated suggestions of product categories and ingredients. We do not currently receive affiliate compensation for these recommendations.
Celebrity matchAI-powered facial similarity search using AWS Rekognition.

Models We Use
We use a combination of commercial AI models accessed via the OpenRouter gateway and direct provider APIs. The model serving a particular request can change without notice as we test new models for better accuracy or safety.
OpenAI GPT-4oPrimary model for scan analysis, routine generation, and the AI Coach. Accessed via OpenRouter.
Anthropic Claude 3.5 SonnetUsed for 75-Day Guide generation and as a fallback for AI Coach. Accessed via OpenRouter or directly.
Google Gemini 2.0 FlashUsed as an additional fallback for guide generation when primary models are unavailable.
AWS RekognitionUsed exclusively for the celebrity face-similarity feature. Does not generate text.
Photos uploaded for facial analysis are transmitted to OpenRouter/OpenAI and AWS Rekognition for processing as described in our Privacy Policy. They are not used to train these providers' foundation models, and they are deleted in accordance with our retention schedule.

Known Limitations of AI
AI models are powerful but imperfect. Independent users uploading similar photos can receive different scores. The same user uploading similar photos on different days can receive different scores. This is normal and reflects the probabilistic nature of these models.
Lighting, angle, image resolution, and facial expression all influence scoring. A poorly lit photo can lower an otherwise high score.
AI training data has historical biases. Models may be less accurate for skin tones, facial structures, or features under-represented in their training data.
AI is not a doctor. Scores do not diagnose health, skin, or psychological conditions.
AI-generated routines and tips may occasionally cite generic or imperfectly matched advice. Use judgement before adopting any routine.
AI Coach responses can contain factual errors, especially regarding medical claims, dermatological actives, or scientific studies. Verify important claims with a qualified professional.

Your Rights Regarding AI Content
ExplanationYou may request a plain-language explanation of how your scores were calculated. We will share what we can within the limits of the underlying model providers.
Re-scanYou can re-run a scan at any time using fresh photos.
Opt outYou can delete your account, removing all AI-generated content and the photos that produced it.
Report a harmful or biased outputEmail supportchronicai@gmail.com. We investigate every report and use them to refine prompts and safety rails.

No Automated Decision-Making With Legal Effect
Ascend does not use AI to make decisions about you that produce a legal or similarly significant effect (for example, credit, employment, insurance, or housing). AI in Ascend is purely for grooming, lifestyle, and wellness guidance. If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, this means our use of AI does not trigger Article 22 of the GDPR.

Children and AI
Ascend is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly process AI scans of minors. If you become aware of a minor using Ascend, please email supportchronicai@gmail.com and we will delete the account.

Updates to This Disclosure
When we add new AI features, switch model providers, or change how a feature works materially, we will update this page and date-stamp the change. Continued use of Ascend after the update constitutes acceptance.
